GodVoter.org Stands Up for Ousted Candidates in the Debates

Posted by sierrascrapper on January 10, 2008

NewsJanuary 8, 2008 – GodVoter.org Calls For ABC, Fox News Presidents Ouster

GodVoter.org calls on David Westin, President of ABC News and Roger Ailes, Chairman of Fox News to apologize to the nation’s voters for their networks’ attempts to influence the 2008 presidential race.

To justify its decision to exclude certain candidates from this weekend’s debate, ABC News stated that candidates like Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter and Dennis Kucinich failed to meet its criteria for participation, while Fox News cited the lack of room in its cramped debate venue.

Are we to believe that ABC News didn’t know exactly which candidates would be affected while crafting its criteria just days earlier? And how much more space would another candidate or two have cost Fox News, owned by billionaire Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp?

Limiting participation in presidential debates is warranted late in the race when voters are well acquainted with the candidates. This weekend’s debates took place on only the 5th and the 6th day of the election year. Many voters around the country still don’t even know some of the candidates’ names, let alone their records and platforms.

And the error of the exclusions was evident. For example, foreign policy neophytes like Obama and Romney, neither of whom have military experience, expounding on the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and the nuclear threat without Duncan Hunter, the former army ranger who is serving his 26th year on the House Armed Services Committee, was akin to college freshmen trying to impress during an oral exam without the professor.

Ever since Kennedy debated Nixon in black and white in 1960, television stations have been gaining and wielding influence over presidential races. But now, it has gone too far.

If Westin and Ailes, the former media consultant for Rudy Giuliani, refuse to apologize to the voters, as well as to the affected candidates, including Congressmen Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter and Dennis Kucinich, GodVoter.org calls on Disney and News Corp to replace them.

FAUX News and SC GOP freeze Hunter out of Debate

Posted by sierrascrapper on January 10, 2008

From: Mike Dixon
Subject: SC Debate

I feel obligated to let you know that the SC Republican Party in conjunction with Fox News is not allowing Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter into the the South Carolina debate tomorrow night.

Bill O’Reilly said last week on his show that Duncan Hunter would be in the debate. The state party informed us today that he would not be allowed into the debate. The SC GOP blames Fox News. I personally believe that the state party could make it happen if they would.
Duncan Hunter is a qualified candidate who has shaped the debate in this presidential race for the Republican Nomination. Consider the facts:
  • from day one Hunter has campaigned to secure the border and fight illegal immigration. He wrote the Border Fence legistation that was passed by Congress and signed into law by the President. With the exception of Tancredo none of the other candidates started talking about this issue until the end of March 2007. Hunter was running television ads about this in December 2006.
  • from day one Hunter has campaigned against the unfair trade practices of China and pledged to negotiate fair trade deals. Only with in the past couple of weeks have any of the other candidates mentioned this. CONSIDER THE MANUFACTURING JOBS SOUTH CAROLINIANS HAVE LOST!
  • from day one Hunter has campaigned for a fair tax. He co-sponsored the fair tax legislation
  • from day one Hunter has campigned for a strong national defense, peace through strength. No one knows defense better than Duncan Hunter, the ranking member of the Armed Services Committee.
I do not know of anything we can do to get Congressman Hunter into the SC Debate short of a lawsuit to stop the debate until Hunter is allowed into the debate. I suggest phone calls and e-mails to the state party and Fox News. Also, you can refuse to buy tickets to the debate and or debate events.
DUNCAN HUNTER’S CAMPAIGN PAID $25,000.00 AS A FILING FEE TO BE ON THE SOUTH CAROLINA REPUBLICAN PRIMARY BALLOT. NOW THEY WILL NOT GIVE HIM THE TIME OF DAY!
Call the South Carolina Republican Party at 1-800-215-2344 or go to SCgop.com for contact information. Also, go to FoxNews.com to contact Fox News. I have sent an e-mail to Bill O’Reilly.
I ask that you stand with us as we continue to fight for what is right.
MIKE DIXON

SOUTH CAROLINA CO-CHAIRMAN

Realize this America, FOX News and the other mainstream media outlets are forcing you to be like SHEEP.  Don’t be blinded by what is happening here.  The MSM wants you to pick a liberal Republican.  They want a President who is a push-over who will lead our country close to how the Dems would do it.  Think about this, at each debate, Hunter has not been given his fair share of time.  The media has only focused on the LIBERAL candidates.  That is because they are afraid of Hunter and how he would turn our nation back in the right direction.  Hunter stands for all the conservative values that we uphold.  The media doesn’t want to accept the fact that Hunter is not a QUITTER and that he will fight to the very end.

I always hear complaints about the fact that Hunter doesn’t have name recognition.  Who do you think is responsible for that???  You can be sure that the MSM and the LIBERAL candidates are the ones banding together to keep out the MOST CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE running for President.  Republican voters are longing for another President like Reagan.   That candidate is DUNCAN HUNTER.  He became a Congressman as Reagan became President.   Hunter learned how to represent our nation from one of our most treasured leaders.

The Race for the White House is WIDE OPEN

Posted by sierrascrapper on January 9, 2008

Duncan Hunter has not been expending heavy resources on targets of marginal value like IA and NH.  He’s only gone through the motions to take advantage of free media opportunities.  His priority has been defining the critical substantive issues that will shape the future of our Nation and very likely, western civilization.  At the same time he has been building his campaign organization for the critical Florida primary on 29 Jan and the Super Tuesday primaries which follow on 5 Feb.
Get ready to welcome defectors from the fallen media-fabricated titans.  Beneath the surface of tonight’s media hype, the NH primary results provide more good news for Congressman Hunter, the true Reagan conservative in the Presidential race.  Since 1978, southern NH has undergone exponential development becoming a virtual suburb of Boston. Therefore, the NH results have shattered the media-fabricated conservative candidacy of the former Mass Governor who spent millions in IA and NH. Another big spender mortally wounded in NH is former Senator Fred Thompson. Those who were succumbing to the constant bombardment by media elites, especially by Fox, marketing the pseudo conservative candidates, now have grave doubts about their electability.  They will not realize that both candidates had very modest records of achievement in their limited time in public office. Well, watch them now take a second look at Duncan.
Although Senator McCain is a great warrior and patriot with a good Defense record, he has totally failed to recognize that a strong economy is the critical foundation of a sound national security strategy. His past support of such schemes like NAFTA and horrendous attempts to grant amnesty to illegals was tantamount to an assault on America’s well paid middle class workers.  His support of so called “campaign finance reform” resulted in a defacto incumbents protection act at the expense of muzzling free expression.
Duncan Hunter has championed a strong military, border security, and protecting America’s workers and small businesses against unfair trade competition by opposing schemes like NAFTA, the North American Union and outsourcing to China.  He wisely recognizes that protecting jobs in U.S. defense, aircraft, ship repair, machine tools, textile, steel and titanium industries are essential for maintaining the wartime surge capacity of the U.S. industrial base.  Since 9-11-01, he has led the fight to secure our borders against terrorists and lawless elements.
For 15 years, major strategic mistakes have been made by Administrations of both political parties because they lacked substantial military and foreign policy experience.  This is not gained by a governor calling out the National Guard for state duty, or by a mayor responding to a highly localized terrorist attack, no matter how admirably.  Rather, it comes form mastering the economic, diplomatic, military and intergovernmental elements of our national power to shape sound security strategy and policy.  Congressman Hunter cannot only tactically, operationally and strategically employ our forces, but also balance those other elements of power with equally superior competency to restore America’s greatness.  Now Americans will wake up and realize that they don’t have to “settle.”

Since 1981, Congressman Duncan Hunter has served on the House Armed Services Committee, as Chairman from 2002-06, and currently as the Ranking Minority Member.  Hunter has championed a strong military, border security, and protecting America’s workers and small businesses against unfair trade competition by opposing schemes like NAFTA and the North American Union.  He understands that protecting jobs in U.S. defense, aircraft, ship repair, machine tools, textile, steel and titanium industries are essential for maintaining the surge capacity of the U.S. industrial base.  Since 9-11-01, Hunter has led the fight to secure our borders against transnational terrorists and lawless elements; and to release two unjustly convicted border guards, Ramos and Campion.
Hunter earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and Bronze Star in Vietnam and demands that the U.S. Government keep its promises to Veterans.  His efforts to provide tax relief for working families, protect Social Security, and promote strong family values earned him 100% ratings from Eagle Forum, the American Conservative Union, the Concerned Women of America, the Christian Coalition, and the Campaign for Working Families; a 92% from the American Conservative Union; and an A+ from the NRA.
Vote for Duncan Hunter, a true Reagan Republican in the Presidential primary on January 29th.  We don’t have to settle for a self-reinvented or media-fabricated one.

Watch Out MSM, Duncan Hunter is a FIGHTER

Posted by sierrascrapper on January 7, 2008

The mainstream media better think twice about leaving Duncan Hunter out of future Presidential debates.  Duncan Hunter is a fighter and he will NEVER QUIT!

Duncan Hunter is in this race to win and America needs to wake and realize that Hunter is the ONLY TRUE CONSERVATIVE running for President.

Watch this video to see Duncan Hunter’s response to his being blocked out of the Presidential debates this weekend:

Do these “top tier” candidates have delegates for the upcoming Republican National Convention?

Giuliani? NO
McCain? NO
Paul? NO

It’s time to listen to the message that Duncan Hunter has to say.  There is a reason that the mainstream media is afraid of Duncan Hunter.  They know that he is the candidate that could slaughter the competition from the Democrats and finally turn our nation back in the right direction.  Duncan Hunter has a proven record on the issues he stands for like border control, 2nd amendment rights, pro-life and family values, unfair trade deals with China, strong military, lower taxes.

When you go to vote in the primaries, don’t let the media tell you who to vote for.  Make your own decision.  Do the research.  Take a Presidential candidate quiz and find out which one you are most closely aligned with.  Read this former blog entry for a link to one of these quizzes. Select a Candidate

DUNCAN HUNTER EARNS ENDORSEMENT FROM NEVADA REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY

Posted by sierrascrapper on January 7, 2008

On January 4, 5 and 6, 2008 the Nevada Republican Assembly held a Presidential Endorsing Convention in Reno, Nevada.  On Saturday they held a Presidential rally where each of the campaigns presented their candidate and the issues they stand for.  The organization also held a Straw Poll for those who attended the rally.  Congressman Hunter came in 3rd place in the straw poll behind Ron Paul and John McCain.

On Sunday, the NVRA met to vote on the candidate that their organization would endorse for President in 2008.  This organization has one of the largest concentrations of conservative Republicans in it’s membership.  They uphold the principles of supporting our constitution, limited government, love of God, state sovereignty, controlled spending, sanctity of life, parental rights, protection of private property, 2nd amendment rights, security of our borders, fair trade, educational excellence, and fair and equal taxation rights.

The NVRA held a series of votes to reach their choice for endorsement of Congressman Duncan Hunter for President in 2008.  Duncan Hunter had a clear lead throughout all 5 rounds of voting.  In order for the assembly to reach a final decision for the endorsement, the candidate had to have a 2/3 majority vote.  Duncan Hunter won that endorsement over Fred Thompson with more than the 2/3 required.  Hunter’s clear, consistent conservative message has resonated with residents in Nevada.

Michael Kressler, President of the NVRA along with members of the organization are proud to endorse Duncan Hunter for President in 2008.  Duncan Hunter has proven that he is a viable candidate and will represent the people who need a President that is honest and true and will facilitate change in the right direction for our nation.

Open Letter to the Wyoming GOP – Time for another California Cowboy, Duncan Hunter

Posted by sierrascrapper on January 4, 2008

I found this entry on the News Which Cannot Lose Blog and I wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to read the latest correspondence from Alexander J. Madison to America in 2008.

Alexander J. Madison – January 4, 2008

Dear Wyoming GOPers,

First, let me congratulate you for living in one of the most beautiful states in the Union. My home state of Washington gives Wyoming a run for the money, but unlike you, we have several million liberals that tend to pollute the scenery.

Iowa has spoken. And as usual, they have voted with their hearts, not their heads. They voted in Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney for the top two spots. Granted, both Mike and Mitt are currently unemployed and had much time to spend gladhanding the good folks in Iowa. However, what Iowegians did not do is bother to understand the records of the two gentlemen in question, and fell prey, once again, to a fellow who spins a good yarn, and one that ‘looks presidential’. After all, Iowa supported GHW Bush over an excellent conservative named Ronald Reagan.

While Mr. Huckabee is certainly a social conservative, he is what we in the west call a nanny-stater. He vows to support a nationwide ban on smoking in public places. Now please tell me what on God’s green earth makes him think the Federal Government has any authority to even contemplate such stupidity. While governor of Arkansas, the Huck instituted ARKids, a nice little socialized medicine program that would make Hillary blush. In addition to that, he promoted a policy to fight obesity, by banning so called ‘junk food’ from the schools and, worse, having the kids subjected to body fat tests. Top this nonsense off with his career long coddling of illegal aliens, going so far to call the conservatives in Arkansas who proposed to cut off benefits to illegals “racists and demagogues”, and his liberal record on taxes and what you end up with is a socially conservative democrat. I guess if you claim to be doing it for God or ‘for the children’, then you can bamboozle a fair number of voters.

Mr. Romney on the other hand, has a somewhat better fiscal record as Governor of Massachusetts than Huckabee had in Arkansas. However, he was a true liberal on far too many other issues. He was exceedingly helpful to the gay lobby in his state, and he presided over the only state in the country to institutionalize “gay marriage”. The Massachusetts schools now have the most gay agenda friendly curricula in the country, outside of San Francisco, thanks to Mitt. In addition, Romney’s record on the 2nd amendment – something few northeastern liberals even understand, much less support – is abysmal. He still stands by his decision to ban ‘assault weapons’, despite not knowing the difference between an assault rifle and a turnip. And he vowed not to “chip away” at Massachusetts’ onerous gun laws, and he didn’t. Mitt is trying to pass himself off as a conservative now; but with no military expertise or experience, a lifelong ‘pro-choice’ stance, purposely distancing himself from the Reagan era, and burdening his state with mandatory RomneyCare, there is no reason for conservatives to give this man a vote. Yes, he has flipped flopped on a number of positions, but that in itself reeks of opportunism, not character. After all, he is in his sixties, not a young man who understandably grew more conservative in his 30s and 40s.

Does all this mean that Wyoming should instead choose John “Amnesty” McCain, Rudy “sanctuary city” Giuliani or Fred “global warming” Thompson, instead of Huck or Mitt? The answer is emphatically NO.

Duncan Hunter is the man that all good conservatives should be supporting. And Wyoming has a chance to be the antidote to the foolishness that transpired in Iowa. Hunter has limited funds and a full time job, so he basically passed on Iowa and instead is targeting early primary states New Hampshire, Michigan, South Carolina, Nevada, and of course, the Cowboy State.

Why Hunter? Here are 8 very good reasons:

1. He is a true Reaganite. He lives and breathes ‘Peace through Strength’ and is dedicated to taming the federal leviathan. He is on record for wanting to gut the Department of Education, curtail the EPA and OSHA, eliminate the Department of Energy, the NEA and the NEH, in addition to freezing all non military spending. Hunter will also work to return the military to Reagan era prominence and beyond, including space based weaponry.

2. Hunter is the most conservative man in the race. Period. And it is not a conservatism born from a decision to run for President. It is his basic philosophy, and has been his entire adult life. He is rated lifetime at 92% by the American Conservative Union, 100% by the National Right to Life, and gets A’s from both the Gun Owners of America and the NRA.

3. Hunter is the ONLY one willing to go after communist China. Not only for their multi-faceted cheating on trade, which has ruptured our industrial manufacturing base, but for all the other malfeasance, including their incessant pirating of US software, their blatant industrial and military espionage, and their alarming military arsenal buildup. Hunter will also end the suicidal selling of our sophisticated dual use technologies to these communist adversaries.

4. Hunter is a tax cutter without equal in the race. Not only is Hunter’s voting record in Congress on tax cuts and tax increases nearly perfect, he also has sponsored and pushed for tax cuts, when the dems and RINOs were busy compromising. He is an original cosponsor of the Fair Tax, which would eliminate the IRS and replace the income tax with a sales tax. This would also tremendously boost the US manufacturing sector, as well as get rid of a poisonous bureaucracy that cost 10s of billions to operate.

5. Energy Independence is not some buzz phrase used by Hunter, like the others, to give lip service to environmentalists or to bemoan our “addiction to oil”. Rather, as in most every other category, Hunter views energy independence through the eyes of national security patriot. Hunter proposes increasing the use of coal and shale- including Wyoming’s, opening up the coastlines for more oil exploration and extraction, increasing Alaska’s production, erecting new nuclear power plants, as well as giving tax incentives for alternative and ‘clean’ energies. In other words, Hunter fully intends to follow through with energy independence, and won’t be intimidated by the greenies, like the rest of field.

6. When it comes to the southern border and illegal immigration, no one, not even Mr. Tancredo who recently departed the race, can hold a candle to Hunter’s efforts. Not only did he write the “Secure Fence Act” and build a border fence in his home county of San Diego, Hunter is the only one who will not compromise on amnesty for those already here. His position has always been that all illegals must return home, THEN get in the back of the line. And with 85 bills and amendments that Hunter has sponsored over his career dealing with this problem, rest assured he means every word of it today. Every other candidate is a flip flopper on this issue, at best, after dismal careers exacerbating or ignoring the problem.

7. Hunter is a military expert. Perhaps more so than anyone in Washington DC, including most of the folks in the Pentagon. Hunter was Reagan’s staunchest ally in rebuilding our military after the post Vietnam and Carter malaise. Reagan chose Hunter to lead the US delegation to European capitals to sell them on SDI (missile defense). And Reagan leaned on Hunter to help keep the communists at bay in Central America; and together they did just that. Hunter also interrupted his college career as a young man to volunteer for the jungles of Vietnam, as an Airborne Ranger. He has been on the Armed Services Committee for his entire congressional career, and led that group prior to the democrat takeover in 2006. Hunter is a hawk’s hawk and has an unmatched knowledge of weapon systems, tactics and needed troop levels. He is a former President of the American Security Council, the group that Reagan leaned on for many of his strategies. The islamists, Iran, China, Russia and Venezuela will not approve of Hunter’s forward leaning agenda, but Ronald Reagan sure would.

8. Hunter does not have a politically correct bone in his body. This does not mean he says outrageous things, like a Michael Savage, to garner attention. But he is unflappable in his stands that the military should not accept homosexuality. He has never flinched over Bush’s decision to keep Gitmo open and he will not go along with the anti-torture crowd for treating terrorists with kid gloves. He forced the Air Force to rescind a policy that prohibited chaplains from praying in Jesus’ name. He took on the ACLU to save the Mt. Soledad Cross War Memorial in San Diego. He does not give lip service to Kwaanza or Gay Pride festivals or the ‘holy’ month of Ramadan. Hunter also wants to restore the ability for children to be able to pray in public schools, one of Reagan’s pet issues.

What Duncan Hunter won’t do.

Hunter will not, like Mike Huckabee, John McCain, and Mitt Romney, move us closer to socialized medicine in this country. Hunter’s ideas are all market based and entail deregulation and cutting mandates to give the consumers better control of their medical expenses and insurance options.

Hunter will not, like Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, McCain, Romney, and Huckabee, do anything that will remotely lead to putting the United States of America in a sovereignty usurping treaty on global warming. Fred started the ball rolling in that direction with his sponsorship in 2002 of Title X Climate Change Strategy (S.Amdt 3232), that explicitly calls for a binding international treaty. And McCain and Huckabee have committed to introducing mandatory ‘cap and trade’ on CO2 emissions, all for a problem that does not even exist.

Hunter will not, like Rudy and McCain and Romney, allow ANY new gun control legislation to pass his desk. Unlike these clowns, Hunter understands that the 2nd Amendment is “absolute”.

Hunter will not, like Huckabee and McCain have proposed, shut down our Guantanamo Bay prison and end ‘waterboarding’ because of international and leftist pressure.

Hunter will not, like McCain and Thompson, trample on the first amendment for the sake of nebulous ‘campaign finance reform’.

Hunter will not, as the Bush administration has done, and echoed by most of the 2008 candidates, put pressure on Israel to give up one inch of land for “peace” with a Palestinian State.

Hunter will not, like Fred and Rudy and McCain and Romney, limit the fight against abortion to picking ‘constructionist’ judges in the hopes that Roe V. Wade may one day be overturned. Hunter will fight for the life of the unborn on all fronts, including his own legislation to give full Constitutional protections to the unborn, which would end abortion in this country once and for all.

Hunter will not, like all the others, allow the ridiculous stipulations that are in the WTO and NAFTA to continue trampling on our sovereignty. The WTO forced the US to rescind its tax rebates to US exporters, calling it an illegal subsidy. NAFTA is allowing unfettered, un-inspected Mexican truck traffic on US roads. Hunter will force renegotiations on both of these, and remove anything that usurps US sovereignty on trade.

Hunter will not, like all the others, continue to allow sensitive technologies to be transferred to communist China or any other adversary, despite the globalists’ demands.

Hunter will not, like all the others, continue to watch our manufacturing base slip away. Hunter is the only one to propose eliminating ALL taxes on US manufacturers and will enforce the law when it comes to US manufactured content in our defense systems.

Hunter will not, like Fred Thompson did in 1996, propose a juvenile crime bill that mandates rehabilitation over incarceration to the states. (S.1952, the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1996)

Hunter will not, as Fred Thompson did in 2000, support Robert Byrd’s boneheaded attempt (S.Amdt 4115) to require that the United States GIVE china our clean energy technology to “assist China’s energy sector”.

Hunter will not, as John McCain has done, promote federal involvement in testing steroid use in athletes (S.718) or support Ted Kennedy in the fight to put the FDA in charge of tobacco regulation (S.2626), or try to force background checks for Gun shows (S.890).

Hunter will not, as Mitt Romney has done, force insurers to pay for abortion services.

Hunter will not, as Huckabee did in Arkansas in 2005, complain about the arrest and deportation of illegal aliens by ICE.

And Hunter will not, EVER, say something as asinine as Rudy Giuliani did to justify his NY City lawsuit against gun manufacturers, telling his radio audience that the manufacturers “knowingly overproduced guns, way beyond what is necessary for hunting and law enforcement”.

This weekend, my Wyoming friends, you have a chance to prove to the nation that a rock-ribbed, conservative Reaganite is still the preferred character we are looking for in a republican leader. Hunter is the only man standing that fits that bill. The rest are either extreme flip-floppers (Mitt), life long centrists (Fred – who supported liberal Howard Baker over the Gipper), mavericks with a big liberal streak (McCain), out and out liberals (Rudy), or a socially conservative nanny (Huckabee).

While it is true that McCain has serious national security experience to rival Hunter’s, he has neither the wisdom nor the temperament to make sound decisions. His teaming with Fred Thompson, John Kerry and Russ Feingold to kill the B2 bomber program, his foolish insistence that we close Gitmo, and his inexplicable dedication to open borders at the risk of our national security are all disqualifiers for the maverick.

Hunter, however, does not have a single weakness on the national security front. Nor will he ever kowtow to ‘world opinion’. And his overall conservatism on all issues, ranging from energy, to the federal bureaucracy, to industrial might, to the life of the unborn, to war and peace, is exactly what is needed by this country at this time of peril. The GOP is in danger of losing what is left of the Reagan Coalition. Let us work to re-stoke that fire that Reagan started with his speech, A Time for Choosing, so long ago.

It is time for another California Cowboy to ride into the oval office, and take on the enemies of our nation, both internal and external, and put the meaning back into conservatism.

Sincerely,

Alexander J. Madison

Open Letter to the Iowa GOP – Choose Wisely, Choose Hunter

Posted by sierrascrapper on January 2, 2008

Guest Editorial

Alexander J. Madison

December 31, 2007

Dear Iowegians,

Every presidential election season, your state has the opportunity to help shape the election going forward. Unfortunately, too many times, you have selected a dud during the Iowa Caucuses. In 1976, you picked Gerald Ford, proponent of the ERA and abortion rights, over a very conservative Ronald Reagan. In 1980, you chose a very moderate Bush over Reagan. And twice you picked a milquetoast named Bob Dole. Granted, the choices are sometimes between dud and duddier, but this year is different. This year you have a chance to select a rock-ribbed conservative Reaganite to make up for not choosing the original Reaganite when you had the chance. The name is Duncan Hunter.

Congressman Duncan Hunter is a representative from California’s 52nd legislative district. Mr. Hunter put his college career on hold to volunteer with the 173rd Airborne Rangers to fight the communists in Vietnam. Like Reagan, Hunter believes that war was not only very winnable, but was indeed a “noble cause”. And the killing fields that followed our departure from that conflict are a bold testament to their vision over the head-in-the-sand lack of vision (which continues to this day) from the defeatist democrats and RINOs.

Duncan Hunter also entered office with Reagan in 1981, at the ripe old age of 32. He immediately was able to join the Armed Services Committee in Congress, where he has remained to this day, as former Chairmen, and current Ranking Republican. It was in large part due to Mr. Hunter’s efforts, teaming with folks like Jack Kemp and Henry Hyde, that Reagan was able to ramrod our historic military buildup through Congress in the 80s, which revitalized every branch of our Armed Services. Jack Kemp even credits Hunter with being the go-to guy for strong-arming the very controversial ‘Star Wars’ Strategic Defense Initiative through the House. The results of that persistence and vision is paying off in spades, despite the howls of leftists worldwide, as we today have working missile defense systems either in field, or soon to be fielded; including laser based systems for which Reagan was mercilessly ridiculed by the ignorant ‘academics’ and the press. Hunter was and is perhaps the staunchest anti-communist to sit in Congress. He was the leader most responsible, aside from Reagan, for stemming the commie-creep in Central America during the 1980s, and his disdain for communism has never ebbed.

Duncan Hunter is the ONLY candidate that realizes what China is up to, both militarily with its rapid armament increases, and economically, with its long term strategy to undermine the United States’ industrial base. Hunter is dead set against the ‘one-way’, idiotic trade deal we have with the Chinese, will put a quick end to further technology transfers to the communist nation, and will build up our own military to the point that a Chinese invasion of Taiwan would be nothing short of a quick suicide mission for communism. All the other candidates tip toe around the issue of China. Hunter plans to step on their throat. When it comes to the 2nd Amendment, the 10th Amendment, lowering taxes, fighting the ACLU and political correctness, standing firm against the gay agenda, and sweeping out useless bureaucrats and bureaucracies from the federal government, Duncan Hunter is the only choice.

Unlike John McCain and Mitt Romney, Hunter won’t find anything in the Constitution to justify supporting a ban on ‘assault weapons’ or ‘cheap handguns’. Hunter has a perfect lifetime record with the NRA and the Gun Owners of America. Both Mitt and McCain are liberals in this arena.

Unlike Fred Thompson, Hunter won’t have to lie about previous pro-choice sympathies. Unlike Fred, Hunter has a perfectly consistent record on the life of the unborn, and has sponsored legislation for many, many years to give full constitutional protection to the unborn – legislation that Fred does not support.

Unlike McCain and Thompson, Hunter certainly will not run roughshod over the 1st Amendment for the sake of ‘campaign finance reform’. And Hunter will work to ditch the last vestiges of McCain-Feingold-Thompson, if the courts don’t do it first.

Unlike Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson, Hunter did not and does not buy into the global warming nonsense in any way, shape or form. The only guarantee we have of avoiding a binding, sovereignty usurping, international treaty on global warming is to place a President in power who does not believe the GW alarmism and does not believe in sovereignty usurping international treaties.

Unlike Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee, Hunter does not have some convoluted explanation for why the socialized medicine experiments in Massachusetts (RomneyCare) and Arkansas (ARKids) are a good thing that deserves replication nationally. Indeed, Hunter wants to get government out of the way and reduce the regulations on health insurance by killing off mandates and regulations.

Unlike Mike Huckabee, Hunter will not be contemplating how to mandate and enforce a nationwide ban on smoking in public places, nor will he be scheming to introduce more arts and music and healthy snacks into the nation’s public schools. The NEA, who apparently like Mr. Huckabee, despise Congressman Hunter – a genuine supporter of school choice.

Unlike Rudy Giuliani, Hunter does not have to pretend he is a conservative. A man who sued 26 firearms manufacturers to essentially put them out of business has no business seeking the office of the Presidency on the GOP ticket, unless gun control, abortion rights, gay ‘rights’, and eminent domain abuse are now part of the GOP platform.

Unlike Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Fred Thompson, John McCain, and Mitt Romney, Hunter does not have to lie through his teeth when it comes to his record on illegal immigration. While it is hilarious to see these guys try to ‘Out –Tancredo Tancredo’ on the issue, only one guy truly does out-Tancredo the Colorado Congressman. While Duncan Hunter has sponsored or cosponsored 85 bills and amendments to stop illegal immigration in this country dead in its tracks, not one of these others lifted a finger during their careers, and range from bad to worse on the issue. While ‘The Road to Des Moines’ and last springs citizen revolt led these supposed conservatives to finally see the light – at least in rhetoric, Hunter has been fighting the RINOS and dems on this for 27 years. Hunter wrote the border fence bill (recently defanged by the RINOS), and Hunter is the ONLY one who has vowed to actively deport those currently squatting here illegally.

And finally, Duncan Hunter is the most experienced in warfare, defense systems, foreign policy and the security of our nation. If we are intent on defeating the islamists ASAP- without worrying about offending anyone, keeping terrorists out of our country, and rising to meet the future threats posed by the China-Russia-Iran-Venezuela axis, then we better elect a Reaganite this time around.

If not, we may have to put up with an idiot who thinks we need to close Gitmo and end waterboarding because the world disapproves (Huckabee, McCain), or someone who thinks we just need to be more humble and accommodating on the world stage (Huckabee), or someone who can’t figure out that enriching China is a fools errand (Fred, Mitt, McCain), or someone who has no clue about our military needs and capabilities and would not know an IED from an IUD (Rudy, Huckabee, Mitt).

The choice is clearer than it has been since 1980. Don’t let history pass you by….again.
Most Sincerely,

Alexander J. Madison

Northern Nevadans Listen to Duncan Hunter

Posted by sierrascrapper on December 31, 2007

After making a round of campaign stops in Northern Nevada after the Christmas holiday, Congressman Duncan Hunter found that Nevadans support his run for President.  Congressman Duncan Hunter attended a townhall meeting in Reno on December 27, 2007 where there were almost 50 in attendance.  All 3 of the local affiliate stations turned out to cover the meeting and interview Congressman Hunter.  There were two other local stations and the local newspaper there to cover the event.   Hunter spoke on the issues of unfair trade practices with China, the threat of terrorism in our country through our open borders and our rising problem with illegal immigration.  General Chuck Yeager also spoke at the townhall meeting and told his story about how he broke the sound barrier and how the creation of jets came about.

The next evening, Congressman Hunter and General Yeager spoke to a standing room only crowd in Carson City, NV.  There were over 100 people in attendance.  Nevada’s First Lady Dawn Gibbons was there to meet him when he walked in the door and led a cheering section as he entered into the townhall meeting.  The crowd in Carson City were very receptive to his message and liked each of the points that Hunter discussed.  He spoke more in depth on the issues of education, the War on Terror, Iran, unfair trade with China and our economy.  General Yeager also told his story of his career in the Air Force and told them why he supported Duncan Hunter.  The people who showed up at this townhall meeting were so thrilled to support Duncan Hunter and they were anxious to spread the word about him to their friends.  They all left with at least one of the new CDs that the campaign has just released.  This CD is an excellent tool to spread the message about Duncan Hunter and it’s easy for folks to listen to it in their car on the way to work or wherever they are traveling.

During this trip Congressman Hunter and General Yeager toured the Nevada State Museum in Carson City and were able to see the Carson City Mint and see how the machine operated.   Congressman Hunter also visited a locally owned and operated outdoor outfitter called Mark Fore and Strike.  This business has been owned by 4 generations of the same family.  Congressman Hunter enjoyed meeting with the Stodtmeisters (owners) and appreciated their knowledgeable staff who helped him pick out a gift for the Yeagers.

Congressman Hunter always has a straight-forward answer for any question that is put out.  At the Reno meeting, a local Hispanic activist named Gilbert Cortez who has led protests against ICE raids in our area asked Congressman Hunter how he is going to deal with the problem with illegal aliens in our nation.  Congressman Hunter told him straight up that they would have to go home and come back the right way and stand in line.  Many of the attendees thought that Mr. Cortez would start a major commotion, but Hunter was so clear and steadfast on his answer that Mr. Cortez didn’t have any further comment and it appeared that he actually agreed with Hunter on this issue.  Another voter in Carson City had a question for Congressman Hunter regarding the issue of abortion.  He wanted to know exactly how Congressman Hunter felt about abortion when it came to cases like rape or serious retardation.  Congressman Hunter stood true to his pro-life beliefs and told him that every fetus inside of a woman is considered a child of God and that they all deserve to have the same rights as humans.  The gentleman had no further response as he agreed with what Hunter had to say.  It was amazing to see Congressman Hunter stand up for his beliefs and not waiver.  It’s doubtful that other candidates would stand so strongly on this issue if confronted with it face to face.
